Summer Vision - Art Exhibition

S U M M E R   V I S I O N

New Visual Art Exhibition by Seven Contemporary North London Artists

June 16 th to July 4 th 2009 /  Tue – Fri: 12.30 -7pm;  Sat: 11am-4pm

Organised by

The Greek Cypriot CommunityTrust

This new exhibition brings together the visual art of seven talented and inspiring artists, in a multi-faceted show which features paintings in oils, acrylics, watercolours, paintings on silk and silk screen prints, mixed media, drawings, ceramics, three-dimensional objects and much more.

The artists explore their subject matter as well as their materials with skill, imagination and sensitivity, often using innovative, experimental approaches and techniques.

They come from varied ethnic, educational and learning backgrounds and their eloquent visions are expressed in different styles.  Yet they share a freshness of approach and their sheer, uninhibited love of art stimulates immediate response, curiosity, a sense of engagement with the onlooker but, perhaps, more to the point, also provides a creative focus, which some of the artists hope will spark off the creative flame in others.

The Trust was established in 1996 and has been functioning since then, serving the community in various ways. It is a registered charity  and is administered by the Board of Trustees.

Conveniently situated in the London Borough of Barnet, it is known as the Britannia Centre.

It has a large hall as well as other spacious rooms and it is well equipped to hold various events, such as educational seminars, meetings, recreational activities, cultural events, exhibitions and presentations.

One of its main functions is to promote the cultural profile of the community it represents, but also significantly to encourage interaction and interconnected events between the various communities of North London and to promote harmony, understanding and activities which share a common purpose.  Christos Ioannou is the person responsible for the Trust's cultural activities. He works with passion, devotion and enthusiasm to achieve the Centre’s lofty aims.

Since it was upgraded as a major exhibition venue in North London, with the installation of updated, easy to hang facilities, the Centre has been host to two major exhibitions.

The first was in October 2008, featuring works by two prominent North London Artists, painter Renos Lavithis and sculptor Cos Gerolemou.  It was followed in January 2009 by a second exhibition of paintings by water-colourist and marine painter Andreas Andreou, who lives and works in Cyprus.

This major 3 rd exhibition in such a short time brings together a group of local artists who live and work in North London. The aim is to bring together a lively and exciting range of talents, creating a broad artistic inter-community event .

SUMMER VISION is the theme chosen by the artists, to celebrate the longest days of the year, reflected by the colours and shapes in some of the artists’ works.

 Artists exhibiting are:
